Lavanya studied textile design and spent two years designing more than 80 print and border designs for a Hyderabad handloom export house, working with block printers and dyers in two craft clusters. She started Neelambari in 2018 and paints every master piece herself; six women from her neighbourhood, whom she trained in outlining and filling, now paint the dupatta and cushion lines. The label turned over ₹38 lakh in 2024–25, and 45% of its orders come from customers who have bought before.
